History

For the past 25 years we have been presenting High Holy day services open to the New York Jewish community on a complimentary admission basis to serve as an introduction to our synagogue for the unaffiliated and disconnected. We are the most celebrated High Holyday services in New York, that people talk about for months afterwards. We invented the concept of the "open door" services. We are the original and still the best. Our rabbis are dynamic and relevant presenting compelling and moving services that connects to your life. Thousands have attended these services and have been transformed and had their Judaism renewed and revitalized.

Who Comes?

We welcome to our services young professionals, singles, (20s, 30s, 40s and above) empty nesters, young families/couples, intermarried, beginners, people interested in Judaism, seniors, students, Russian Jews or anyone else--you are invited! We especially welcome those veteran worshippers who found past High Holyday experiences bland or boring or lacking in meaning.

Denomination

We serve Jews of Reform, Conservative and unaffiliated backgrounds. We are trans-denominational within the context of liberal Jewish religious denominations seeking to create a spiritually meaningful and vibrant blend. Our rabbis have studied and been trained in all the Jewish religious denominations. Our services seek to present a creative, contemporary and spiritual Judaism rooted in the past, living in the present, open to the future.
