We are very privileged and excited to announce that Rev Dr. William Barber, a nationally renowned activist and advocate for social justice will be joining us at the Rosh Hashanah service and sharing a vitally important message related to the day.
Dr. Barber who is President of Repairers of the Breach and co-founder of the new Poor People's campaign is a figure in the mold of the Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His 'Moral Mondays' movement has attracted national attention in print and broadcast media.
At this time of moral crisis and moral emergency (could we ever imagine our government would put small children in cages and separate them from their parents?!) Dr. Barber has called for a national moral revival. The inspirational major statement he will deliver is sure to thrill us and give us a renewed sense of purpose and mission in the new year of 5779. As I have told you many times, Rosh Hashanah is about more than honey cake and family dinners: it is about Tikkun Olam–the repair and fixing of a broken world.
This is a rare opportunity to hear Dr. Barber especially in the context of Rosh Hashanah which is a time when we renew our mission as Jews to care and heal the world into the image of God's kingship.
If you've never heard Dr. Barber, you are in for a spiritual treat as he inspires us for the new year and our sacred Jewish mission. There are times when it is a sin to remain silent. This is one of them. Don't be a Jew of silence Stand with us for justice, love and hope. Be there!
